I Know, Halloween Is So Last Week...

…but last week I didn’t have pictures to compare Halloween Then and Now.

Another Halloween has passed, and the kids spent some time over the weekend swapping tales and emailing photos. That got me reminiscing about past Halloweens, and thinking how much has changed. I dug through the photo albums and found this gem:

It’s Halloween 2000. How perfect - a princess and a pumpkin! The princess is so pretty! The pumpkin looks good enough to eat! I think the theme this year was More Kinds of Sugar than the Ingredients in Candy Corn. Hmm, that’s a long theme.

Anyway, fast forward eight years. Let’s see what my little darlings came up with for this year:

Oh look, it’s The Joker and Amy Winehouse! I guess this year’s theme is Creepy, Yet Freakishly Talented. One of these costumes frightened small children, and the other one scared the beejeezus out of the parents.

Hey Ms. Winehouse, why so serious???? Oh yeah, she’s grumpy ‘cause she just got her braces on and has to give half her candy to her little brother. Maybe that’s what put that big smile on his face.

Wow! What great then and now shots!!! And captures the difference in ages so perfectly too! :0)

My kids are about the ages of your 1st picture. This makes me wonder what 8 years will bring!

I love looking back at the kids - it's so fun strolling down memory lane.

Love the joker. Great job on the makeup!

My son, who is 21 this year, went as the joker last year at UofO. He says he was a huge hit at the parties.

And your daughter is beautiful - good thing she has you standing guard ;-) We Moms always worry.

I can't decide if I want to sit here and laugh or go lock up my daughters. The Amy Winehouse costume is priceless.

Ha, your kids and their costumes made me chuckle! What's really in that brown paper bag??

My daughter's 15, and this is the first year she hasn't trick-or-treated. Makes me a bit nostalgic...

Christy - Eight years will bring lots of laughs and a few grey hairs :)

Kim - The make-up was fun, on both of them. I got off pretty easy this year! (Except for the worries...)

PJ - It's a good thing! Really! They are fun at every stage, just with different challenges.

Carrie - LOL - Really, she's a good girl, with a wicked sense of humor. You could be in for double trouble...

Africakid - Hmm...I think it's Dasani water. I probably should know that, right?

Great pictures! I loved all the costumes. Your son made a great Joker and your daughter looks 100% way better than the real Amy!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! The young picture is really cute, but I have to admit liking the new one better. The attitude totally makes the picture, and Amy Winehouse is an excellent costume! The Joker is good too, but we saw a lot of Jokers this year and no Amy Winehouses.
