Last Saturday we decided we wanted to drive downtown to Little Italy. Here are ten things you can do when you are going to Little Italy:
1. Three quarters of the way there, try to remember how to get there.
2. Get lost.
3. Try to say Little Italy ten times really fast.
4. Search purse for coins to feed the parking meter.
5. Listen to some arguing about whose turn it is to put the coins in the meter.
6. Get up as close as possible to really tall buildings. Touch the tips of your shoes to the base of the building, and then look straight up.
Wheee! Be sure to wave to any people looking down from their balconies.
7. Try to figure out where those weird reflections are coming from.
8. Check out shops filled with fancy Italian stuff, like handmade paper masks and Murano glass.
9. Most importantly, and the whole reason for the excursion to Little Italy:
Buy freshly filled cannoli. It’s the world’s most perfect culinary creation.
10. Leave with 40 minutes left on the parking meter, for someone else to enjoy.

Canoli rocks! Yummy, yummy, yummy.
I bet you are never ever bored. I've never had cannoli and now I want to try it.
YUM!
those cannoli look extra yummy ...
... if you ever make it to Baltimore, MD make your way to their Little Italy & specifically to Vacarro's (but check the spelling as that's phonetic) for dessert ... (you can compare the cannoli, but make sure to try some of their cookies, too) oh so very yummy!
Suzie - Lucky for me I didn't know where to get good cannoli when I was pregnant.
PJ & Kelly - You said it!
Green Girl - Now that you mention it, I don't know when was the last time I had the chance to be bored...and you absolutely have to try cannoli - just make sure they are filled on the spot (otherwise they get soggy).
3rdeyemuse - I used to have family in that area but not anymore. I couldn't resist looking up their website - they deliver anywhere in the US!
Cool post! Sounds like a fun day out! Yummy looking cannoli too!
Yummy for my tummy and I love the shots of the tall buildings :)
A feast for the mouth and eyes.
How tasty looking! Italian food is soo yummy. Especially their baked goods, unfortunately. And the espresso, of course.
Yummy! ;)
I've never had cannoli. Does that mean my life is incomplete?
Sounds like you a lovely day!
Yummy! The last time we went to Little Italy, we went to a fancy restaurant where the waiter actually ate off my plate. Weird.
How fun! Suddenly I need to visit this little Italian bakery I know of...
africakid - now I need to go find my espresso maker ;)
Bish - I'm surprised they are not more common, being so decadent and all. But you've gotta try them.
Carrie - that is weird - was he tasting it for you? I've been to fancy restaurants where they were so attentive it's a little unsettling.
icqb - Hope you find some good treats! It's hard to resist those pretty little cookies, too.
