A Bug's Eye View

I wanted to add some illustrations with interesting perspectives to my portfolio. So I look my camera to the yard, placed it on the ground, and started clicking away.

I discovered a whole new world...

...and what the underside of a nasturtium leaf looks like. I wonder what sort of creatures inhabit this realm...

...Mice? Roly-polies? Lilliputians? Spring Peepers?

Maybe fairies? That looks like one there on the left.

I haven't spotted the character for my illustration yet, but I did spot a lot of spores.

I think I'll wait under here until my subject finds me.

A boot...interesting! I kept imagining a cat's face, or any pair of eyes peering down...but it seems more fairy tale-ish. I'm still thinking...

So this is what it would be like to be a bug. How NEAT. :)

I LOVE these pictures! I totally want to paint them too. I can imagine all sorts of fun things. I'll have to see if I can find anything fun things to take pictures of from this view.

I did take lots of apples/apple tree/hole in tree pictures on Friday. I always loved the possibilities of a hole in a tree, and who might live there, or where it might lead if you could fit inside.

Carrie - and shady, too!

Sruble - How funny - I just took some pictures of hollow trees for a PB idea I'm working on.
It's amazing what sorts of things get your imagination going.

I think the hollow trees are so fascinating to me because I latched on to them when I was really little, and made up stories about my stuffed cat and the hole in the tree. But even if I hadn't, I might still be inspired by them. They are really cool.

Hope your PB idea works out!
