What I've Been Up To

I did this illustration just for fun, because summer's on the way. I'm looking forward to squeezing in some beach time. I will not be squeezing into a two-piece; not even a modest one like the one pictured.

I started a new album with some of my recent illustrations. Just click on the two birds over there to the right, and see what I've been up to. Since most were class assignments, the styles are a bit of a mix, but lately I've been gravitating towards a fun retro look. I'm looking forward to adding to the album, too.

So, what have you been up to? What are you looking forward to?

I love them all ! Especially The Dress Shop ..
While you are squeezing into a new bathing suit, I have been searching for a new winter coat.
I am looking forward to my Pup regaining his strength after surgery and living for a very long time, and for visitors from the US to make up their minds when they will be here.
Did I mention shopping ? yes, between the winter clothes and things for the house.. shopping is my daily chore now. Poor me :)
I love your little birds..

Hi aBroad - Thanks for visiting, and happy shopping! You must be far away if winter is on the way.
Best wishes for your Pup's speedy recovery!

Great job.I love them too. When the sun's out, we can play! I'll be at the beach in about a fortnight for a destination wedding. No bikinis but dancing under the stars:))

Love them all - especially wig wars - it hit home since I just donated my hair ;)

Plus having it all - can't . . . can we?

But the birds are so cut and Nut-n-Honey...

Like I said, I love 'em all. :)

All great (so great, in fact, I can totally picture your work illustrating magazine articles, etc.), but the wig wars one cracks me up! Your work needs to be in front of an art director!!! : )

Ooh, I LOVE everything you've been up to! It looks like you learned a lot of interesting things - I love the map of Teotihuacan, looks just like what something on a tourist pamphlet. You have SO much talent!

Hope you get some nice, relaxing beach time in!

These are all wonderful! You've been spending your time very creatively. I agree with Ara and hope you're getting your portfolio in front of art directors.

Kind of a new style for you! Very bright--I like it!

Keats - Dancing under the stars at the beach sounds amazing! Enjoy the wedding.

Kim - I hope you post a picture of your new, shorter 'do!

Ara - Thanks! I'd like to illustrate for magazines or just about anything. I'm working on getting enough work together in a consistent style, then figure out where to go from there. :)

ICQB - I thought the map assignment would be dreadful, but I ended up having so much fun with it.
As for the beach, the June Gloom has set in, but sunny days can't be far off!

MG - Thanks! I keep working with that in mind. If I could just keep pesky practical matters from getting in the way...

That is a fun, summery illustration!
I am taking two graduate courses in the next three weeks, so basically I've been reading and writing papers! What a crazy way to spend the beginning of the summer.

Beautiful, Adrienne! I love your birdies too!

I'm spending this month revising lots of pb and a couple chapter books. Next month I'll be submitting them. :) (fingers, toes and eyes crossed)

Have a great week!

Do you have a story to go with it? I would love to hear it…

If you print this on stiff paper it could almost be a paperdoll pattern :D at least for clothing

Such great drawings!

This summer, I'm finishing a YA that will be turned into a movie so I can quit both my teaching jobs and get an apartment on the Upper East Side that comes with laundry service and a devoted and honest staff.

Your illustrations made me feel all summery and happy. I've been writing, so am just now looking up from my computer to notice how beautiful it is outside. Now it's time to feel some sun and walk on the beach.

I like those bright colors too, and the associations they have with summer. Summer has pretty much bypassed us here in Scotland.

I've been working this summer, at a number of jobs. Which sounds a little depressing, but it's actually been a great summer. Working has made me want to write again -- there's something about knowing that I don't have enough time to really inspire me.
