Fledglings and Painting Notes

Spring is in the air, and so are the fledglings. They go whiffling around the neighborhood, practicing their frantic acrobatics. Occasionally they crash land in my garden. I want to pick them up and put them in my pocket. I want to pat their fuzzy heads and feed them tidbits. I wait anxiously and watch for passing cats, hoping they make it into the nearest tree.

Maybe I had the fledglings in mind when I painted this picture. Maybe I was thinking of the story I started writing months ago. I haven’t had time to work on it, but it flaps around in my head anyway. It’s about a bird (not the one in the picture). I know how I want the book to look. I see the shades of blue the sky ought to be and how scruffy the main character is. I painted the picture to remind me, when I find time to work on it.

Do the mama birds wonder where the time goes?

Love that pic

And "this" Mama bird always wonders where the time goes ;)

That is a sweet painting!

I suspect Mama birds are too busy being mamas to wonder where the time has gone.

I wonder if the Daddy bird is watching TV and drinking a beer... ;)
Beautiful illustration!! I love watching the birds in the spring and looking out for their nests!

That is how I feel too--when I see those baby birds looking so vulnerable!

Love that!
I love what Kelly said. Where's the daddy bird?
I hope he's home doing laundry, but I have my doubts. :)

What a sweet picture, I love the little birdies.

Unfortunately fallen fledglings don't have a chance around here between our cats and the neighbor's.

Hope you find the time to work on your story - sometimes fledgling stories are in danger from that old cat Time.

Your paintings always make me smile, Adrienne! Good luck finding time and striking a balance. Not an easy task, I know.

Lovely painting!

And, I bet mama birds wonder about time and other things. I once watched in horror as a raven gobbled 2 baby robins from a nest. The mother came back soon after and the look on her face was heartbreaking! :(

Like your painting. Hope you find time to work on your story; I love stories about birds.

Of course, having to be a mama bird makes time scarce, doesn't it?

This picture is amazing! I ponder the same thing at times... what do birds think? Do they have a bond like mother and daughter or father and son? Do they see the time pass by... hmm interesting isn't it?

I like the whimsical pic of mama and her fledglings. Let fly your wings and get out a wonderful story which I'm sure it'll be:))

I love the picture of the fledglings. Very sweet. I'm very much into saving those sweet things when I can.

This is a wonderful painting Adrienne! What a great idea to have the mama bird carry the fledglings in her purse until they are ready to fly.
