For years I’ve wanted to get a good one, but couldn’t justify the luxury purchase. Every time I entertained the idea of going for it, some unexpected expense would pop up. After going back and forth about it and whining all summer about not having any decent family photos, I decided to follow the kids’ advice:
“Mom, just buy it before the car breaks down again.”
Sometimes they are so smart.
Even though it was scorching hot out (and blinding midday sun) when I brought it home, I had to test it out by the river:
New thing #2: I redesigned my Painting the Gown website. I have to say I’m pretty proud of myself for figuring this out. Computer skills come about as naturally to me as knitting does to a snake. Sure, I used a template, but I tried to disguise the fact at least a little. I haven’t seen the result on any computer but mine; I’m hoping there’s nothing funny going on with the fonts or anything. So if you check it out and something looks like gobbledy-gook to you, let me know.
New thing #3: A story I submitted recently to Stories for Children Magazine was accepted for their December 2009 issue. Hooray, an acceptance!
What’s new with you?

Congrats on your story acceptance! Is it an online or paper magazine?
Good you listened to those kids. They know us better than we know ourselves sometimes.
#1 - Great pictures! Looks like the beginning of a long relationship between camera and camera holder.
#2 - The site looks great!
#3 - CONGRATULATIONS on the imminent story publication!!! Hooray, indeed!
Great pictures! And congratulations on your story being published.
Yay on your new camera! DOUBLE YAY on the published story!!
Anne - Thanks...Stories for Children is an online magazine.
And yes, I'm so programmed to be the voice of reason, sometimes they can see better what's the best decision.
ICQB - Thanks! As for the camera, I feel like I need to make up for lost time!
Rena, Green Girl - Thanks :)
Great photos, Adrienne. Aren't new cameras fun? And congrats on your story! Your website is beautiful! Just an FYI, I'm using a MacBook with Safari and text was breaking mid-line, as if formatted for a wider screen. All the words were showing up, there were just short lines of text under longer ones. I hope that makes sense.
MG - Thanks - I'll see if there's a way to fix that. (Translation: I'll turn that one over to my husband...) :D
First you live in a beautiful place. Very serene. Congrats on stories for children and for a new camera :) The website is nice, very creative, do you sell that to tailors? Wow, the orange dress is beautiful.
Congrats on your story acceptance. YaY!!!!!
And I'd say that you snagged a winner w/ your new camera. Those pictures are fabulous!
You always have great pics on here! Congrats on your Stories for Children acceptance (I love them) and your new camera!
I am going to pass along your dress link to two parents of two brides to be!
Congrats on the story being published.
Yeah…!
Your new website looks great.
Good job!
I do not have a camera now my daughter and I always shared a camera and she took it
when she left for school…
I hope to buy a new one soon; I want one that is better than my last one however
I really do not want to spend the money right now.
Plus I am having a hard time deciding on which one to get.
This is like the third time I have been on the edge of getting myself a camera but something always comes
along and the money goes in a different direction…
Maybe I should take your kids advice.
Louise
Congrates on the new camera! The kids advice worked out fine. Well done on the publication! - all great news around.
babYpose - The paintings are for anyone who wants to remember how they felt in an amazing dress on a special day. Thanks for the kind words!
Christy - The camera has more bells and whistles than I probably need at the moment, but I'm hoping I'll grow into it... :-)
Kelly - Great...thanks for the mention! And I love Stories for Children, too!
Louise - Trying to decide on a camera is hard! By the time you've done your research, they are already replacing your choices with the new models. It took me forever to decide. I hope you get your hands on the one you want soon!
Keats - Sometimes the kids do know best...I'm not having a bit of buyer's remorse... :)
Great photos! And yes, sometimes we all need that little kick in the pants!
Congrats on your story getting published...your pics are great and I love the website...Hugs...
Yeah! Congratulations!
How exciting--congratulations!
